The Pen Pal Program, an initiative of Murphy Charitable Foundation Uganda, is dedicated to creating meaningful connections between vulnerable children in Uganda and kind-hearted individuals around the world. The program’s core mission is to offer emotional support, encouragement, and inspiration to children at risk of dropping out of school, or those facing challenges due to poverty, loss, and adversity. By providing them with a global network of pen pals, we aim to uplift their spirits, ignite their dreams, and help them realize their full potential.

2024 Highlights:

In 2024, we are proud to report that the Pen Pal Program connected over 2,000 children with international pen pals, making an incredible impact on their lives. Through the exchange of letters, these children received not only messages of hope and encouragement but also a sense of belonging, understanding, and support from their new friends around the world.

Additionally, 5.5% of the children involved in the program were fortunate to receive sponsorships from their pen pals. This support has enabled them to continue their education, access better opportunities, and break free from the cycle of poverty. The generosity and care shown by these sponsors have proven to be life-changing for the children who receive their help, allowing them to look toward the future with greater optimism.
