As we are in the festive season of Christmas and a new year dawns, Murphy Charitable Foundation Uganda reflects with pride and gratitude on the remarkable achievements of our Kind Loans Program. Designed to empower vulnerable women across Uganda, this initiative is already transforming lives and igniting hope in extraordinary ways.

A Year of Empowerment and Resilience

In 2024, the Kind Loans Program extended its support to hundreds of women in rural communities, offering interest-free loans to help them start or expand small businesses. From retail ventures and produce stalls to farming endeavors, these women embraced entrepreneurship and agriculture with creativity, determination, and resilience.

The program has enabled many beneficiaries, who once struggled to make ends meet, to see their dreams come to life. They’ve built thriving businesses, become employers in their communities, and inspired others to believe in their potential. Their success is not just personal, it’s a ripple effect that uplifts entire communities.

Stories That Inspire and Empower

Immaculate, a grandmother from Bukedea District, is one of our shining stars. Using her loan, she started a small retail shop that has since flourished into a successful community business. With her hard work and growing income, she now provides her children with scholastic materials and ensures her family’s well-being. Immaculate is so optimistic about her future that she’s seeking an additional loan to further expand her business.

Another inspiring story is that of Suzan, a mother and farmer also in Bukedea. Suzan began tomato farming with her loan, and through dedication and perseverance, she has grown her venture into a half-acre operation. Today, Suzan takes pride in her ability to feed her children, support their education  and save for their future.

These incredible women are just two among the hundreds of the beneficiaries whose lives have been transformed by the Kind Loans Program this year.
